“...And he brought him to Jesus.” (John 1:42)
The setting from the text above is the beginning of our Lord’s public ministry. From the onset Jesus began to call men’s souls unto Himself. His divine mission had begun and already His grace had compelled two men to leave all and follow Him. Andrew being one of the two was so convinced of Christ he immediately shared his faith with his brother, Simon Peter. John 1:41-42a reads “He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. And he brought him to Jesus.”As Christians we all have a common duty and obligation to bring others to Christ. What a wonderful testimony written of Andrew, “and he brought him to Jesus.” Let it be said of all of us that we bring someone to the Savior. Soul winning is a necessity in the Christian experience. If neglected we have misunderstood the call for every Christian to spread the Gospel message. Ignoring soul winning would be the same as an eagle that never soared. To never experience the soaring heights of Christian service is the lot of many who are timid to leave the familiar nest of fear perched on the cliff of self will and pride. However the soul winner is wise and will shine for ever as the stars in glory. (Daniel 12:2-3) His reward is laid up in Heaven “...where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.” (Matthew 6:20) Let us be as the Samaritan woman who “...left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?” (John 4:28-29)
Soul winners are convinced and assured of Christ. So persuaded it is only natural for them to share their faith with others. They all have one thing in common, they cannot keep from speaking of the things they “...have seen and heard.” (Acts 4:20) Their faith assures them of the Christ and drives them into sharing Him with family and friends. “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!” (Romans 10:15)
