Murder

“Thou shalt not kill.” (Exodus 20:13)

Our text above is bold and to the point. However our nation stands before God guilty. In 1973 the Supreme Court ruled in Roe verses Wade to legalize abortion. Allowing the mother to abort her child for any reason she deemed necessary. Since this Godless ruling there have been nearly 50,000,000 abortions in the United States. Every 26 seconds a child is murdered, totaling 100,516 each month. The most dangerous place for a child to be is in the mother’s womb. It should be the safest. In most cases the child is aborted due to an inconvenience. 75% of women having abortions say their child would interfere with their lives. Only 2% of abortions are because of rape and incest. In that case would it not be better to punish the rapist not the baby?

Those who are pro-choice argue that life does not begin until after delivery. What a brainless thought, “professing themselves to be wise, they become fools.” (Romans 1:22). When a person dies we determine this by a lack of vital signs. Eighteen days after conception the child’s heart begins to beat. At forty two days brain waves are recorded. At ten weeks hands and feet are developed. At eighteen weeks the child can cry. At six months 56% of babies can survive a premature birth, but how sad it is that some babies are aborted by the brutal late term procedure, having all ten fingers, a beating heart, and the ability to cry. If a mother is murdered while carrying a child the accused are tried for a double homicide. But a mother can leave the abortion clinic, leaving behind her child in a bio-hazard bag and be back home by lunch time. The double standard is obvious. We all can agree that there is a great difference between an infant and an elderly person. No one would ever question whether either of the two are alive, they are just in different stages of life. Then what is the difference between a new born baby or a child in the mother’s womb. Are we to say that because one is more developed than the other that one is alive while the other is not.

One might pose the question. “Shouldn’t the church stay away from political issues?” This is not political; this is murder of the defenseless. Jesus had strong words against those who harm His children. “It were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck and he cast into the sea, than he should offend one of these little ones. (Luke 17:2). Thou shalt not kill. But thank God there is grace and salvation for those who choose unwisely.
