“And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.” (Isaiah 65:24)
Do you ever doubt if God hears your
prayer request? Do you wonder if your problems are insignificant in the
courts of heaven? We find our answer in the Word of God. From our text
above we read, “...I will hear thee.” The Devil would have us to
believe otherwise. He will always attempt to convince us that our prayers
cannot get past the ceiling of our prayer closet. And if they do, God will
get to them when He has the time. The Devil knows that one of the most
discouraging things in our spiritual life is a discouraged prayer life.
Adrian Rogers said, “Satan can’t keep God from answering our prayers, but
he will keep us from asking.” It is time that we step out of the dark valley
of doubt and learn what God has to say about prayer.
So how soon does God hear our prayer
request? Look again at our text, “...while they are yet speaking, I
will hear.” That is immediately. Isaiah also said, “...Neither his
ear heavy, that it cannot hear.” Daniel sought God’s face for twenty-one
straight days. God sent an angel with these words to encourage him, “From
the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten
thyself before thy God, they words were heard.” (Daniel 10:12). A mother
can hear the needy cries of her child even among a multitude of children
and quickly respond with help. Then “how much more shall your Father which
is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?” (Matthew 7:11).
In the book of John chapter four we
find the story of Jesus and the nobleman. The noblemen left his sick son
in Capernaum and traveled to Galilee and ask Jesus, “Sir, come down ere
my child die.” Jesus responds, “Go thy way; thy son liveth.” Displaying
great faith in the words of Jesus he believes him, and returns to Capernaum.
The Bible reads, “And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and
told him saying, Thy son liveth. Then enquired he of them the hour when
he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour
the fever left him. So the father knew that is was at the same hour, in
the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and
his whole house.” (John 4:51-53). This miracle teaches that our prayer
requests are immediately heard. “Ask, and it shall be given you.” (Matthew
7:7).
